Welcome to the Dedham Exchange Gift Shop

The Dedham Exchange was founded in 1914 to provide a non-profit market for hand-crafted goods and home-cooked foods. During its 95 year history, the Exchange has helped hundreds of consignors from Dedham and around the world offer their unique handmade items for sale. We also carry a wide variety of commercial gifts for every occasion. From beautiful handmade baby sweaters to fine silver jewelry, we have the perfect gift for any occasion. In addition to supporting a large community of artisans through the sale of their work, all our proceeds support community organizations and the public schools.

As a non-profit organization, the DE is proud to be able to give significant annual contributions to Dedham and surrounding community. We strive to meet the needs of young people in particular. We support college scholarships, summer camp scholarships for inner-city youth, programs for the developmentally disabled, the public school libraries and art classes, Dedham Civic Pride and organizations devoted to historic preservation. For a current list of organizations we support, please click here.

The DE is run by a committed group of women who volunteer their time and expertise. Our purpose is to help others. By shopping at the Dedham Exchange, you give back to the community.

In March of 2007, The Dedham Exchange was a recipient of the Pride of New England award at the Boston Gift Show. This award honors New England retailers for "outstanding customer service, creative merchandising, and community involvement." Thank you to our consigner, Ethnic Pride Marketing, for nominating us!

The Dedham Exchange also hosted the 2007 National Federation of Exchanges Convention. Currently there are nineteen Exchanges in the United States. The Federation meets annually to share ideas, successes and challenges.

New Artists Consigning at the Exchange

At the Dedham Exchange, we strive to support independent artists and craftspeople in our local community and abroad. By providing a place for artisans to sell their wares, we empower members of a small knitting group in Bolivia to raise their standard of living. We help a dedicated group of sewers from The Juan Pablo Segundo Quilting Cooperative to provide better health care, nutrition, and education to the children of El Pital, Honduras. We provide a market to local painters, jewelers, woodworkers, and potters that keeps our local economy strong and allows them to work from home while caring for children and the elderly. When you buy a hand-made baby blanket or a jar of local honey at the Exchange you are supporting the community of Dedham and beyond!
